I have uploaded a set of time-saving worksheets relating to upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Aimed at: Reception/KS1 Total worksheets: 40 Description of resources: • Set 1 Worksheets – Select the correct initial letters for pictures; • Set 2 Worksheets – Select 6 correct initial letters out of the 8 from the rectangle to write below the pictures ; • Set 3 Worksheets – Select correct initial capital letter from circle to complete each word; • Set 4 Worksheets – Each box contains two pictures beginning with the same initial letters. Students write the initial alphabet letter for the pictures. • Set 5 Worksheets – Fill in the missing letter to complete the word then rewrite the whole word in capital letters. • Set 6 Worksheets – The pictures in each box start with different initial alphabet letters. Students write the initial letters below each picture in their best handwriting to practise mid-zone letters, ascender and descender letters. E.g. if the two pictures are a jug and a table, the student writes the ‘j’ (descender) and ‘t’ (ascender) on the handwriting lines. I have included some completed examples of worksheets. This literacy resource contains ready-made bingo cards and call out cards, 3 x 3 lotto grids, word searches, word cards for matching games and cards for word snap. **UPDATED WITH TO USE LESS PRINTER INK** 100 sight words obtained from the Primary National Strategy - Letters and Sounds: Appendices - 100 high-frequency words in phases. Use to complement reading activities, literacy and for learning words for spelling tests and assessment. Also great for end of term games. All the bingo boards and lotto boards are numbered and colour-coded for ease of use. There are two versions of the letter ‘K’ in Sassoon font. I have made extra cards for replacement. The words cover Phases 2 to 5 and comprises:- Phase 2 words - bingo cards (x17) Phase 3 words - bingo cards (x15) Phase 4 words - bingo cards (x15) Phase 5 words - bingo cards (x15) Phases 2-5 bingo cards (x40) - Use for whole class option, if you wish. Lotto game - There are a set of 3 x 3 grid lotto cards. The children can play as individuals or in pairs or in small groups. One child picks a word from a bag or box and read it aloud. The children mark the word on their card by colouring over or placing a counter over the word. The first one to complete a line horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins the game. 10 Word searches with solutions. Use the word cards for other activities such as laying out five different word cards and ask the pupil to point to the card that says, e.g. ‘about’. Set a time limit on how many sight words the pupils can read in a minute. Multi-purpose use of the white word cards. You can also use the word cards as displays. This resource relates to St. Patrick’s Day (17 March). It is versatile in that you can save as a different name and then adapt to suit the timing of your assembly. It can also be used as a lesson resource where you can focus on a particular topic such as St Patrick’s life from when he was born, taken as a slave and the becoming the patron saint of Ireland. Content: A Presentation (69 Slides) on facts about St. Patrick and how the day is celebrated. The presentation starts with a welcome to the whole school. It then shows a stain glass window of St Patrick holding a shamrock. There are questions and answers throughout the presentation to involve the children. Very useful addition to your phonics resources to reinforce spelling and writing of CVC words and reading simple sentences. Aimed at: EYFS/Year 1 A set of worksheets for children to practise spelling and writing words that have the same rime ending. The children can practise reading sight words and decodable words. This practical resource contains cut and paste worksheets of 29 onset/rime words. **The worksheets are differentiated. There are 29 worksheets in each set. ** Onset and Rime 1 Worksheets - The cut/paste activity is in two parts. The student cuts out, sorts and then sticks each letter in the correct order to spell what the picture is. The second part is to write in the gap to complete the sentence using the rhyming words they have cut out and glued beneath the pictures in the first part of the activity. Includes Answer Sheet for the sentences. All 29 worksheets are in the same format. Onset and Rime 2 Worksheets - The cut/paste only sheet has two rhyming pictures with the letters to cut out and stick below the pictures to spell the word. These are mixed CVC word cards. The words are jumbled/scrambled. Students can write the correct word or you can get them to type in the correct spelling as I have now included fillable blanks. This is the updated version, but I’ve retained the old version in case you prefer the old version. Also suitable for ESL/EFL students and students still finding it challenging to discriminate sounds. A lovely addition to your phonics lessons or literacy centre. Lay out pairs of cards for the student to match the rhyming pictures and then unscramble the words and write on the lines. This is resource is on the topic of Sikhism. It is an introductory booklet that aims to cover the key features of the Sikh religion including the the K’s. Ideal resource for revision/assessment. It contains a contents page, glossary of terms and texts with sub-headings and questions. Use in English language learning classes - use pictures as a visual prompt to segment and blend words. This product relates to alphabet activities for Reception/Year 1, SEN and ESL/EFL/ESOL. Learning Objectives: To begin to learn about alphabetic order and matching upper to lower case letters. Content: • Teacher’s notes • 2 Sets of Aa-Zz puzzle pieces – Cut/paste • Aa-Zz -Matching letters of the alphabet to pictures • Aa-Zz - Tracing over letters and matching to pictures Description Cut and Paste to match Puzzle pieces Place a selection of Aa – Zz puzzle sheets on tables for children to cut out and match upper and lower case letters and stick into workbook or on a separate sheet of paper. They can trace inside the letters with different colour pencils (rainbow tracing). For the capital letter part of the puzzle ask children to write words beginning with capital letters such as their name if it begins with that letter, a city, day or month, a place of interest etc and draw pictures. For the lower case part of the puzzle, ask children to write and draw things beginning with that letter that does not always begin with a capital letter. Please see sample preview in preview pane. Matching letters to pictures and colour activity ‘Aa is for’ to ‘Zz is for’ activity – tell children they need to colour in the picture that begins with that letter and not to colour in the other pictures. Alphabet resource for display and alphabet activities. This resource contains the following:- Teacher’s Notes • Aa to Zz frieze showing pictures beginning with initial letter. Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall/classroom. Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures • Laminate and cut out • Can be used as an extension activity. Children trace round the initial dotted letter which shows a picture for that letter. Alphabet cards • Alphabet cards should be printed off twice, laminated and cut out. • Children can play alphabet snap • Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order ,e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. Take a letter away without the children seeing and ask what letter is missing. • Matching lower case to upper case letters activity. Practise writing frames using Sassoon dotted font • These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated. • After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, children can practise writing over the dots and then without the dots as handwriting exercises. Alphabet Mat Practise (trace over dotted letters) Photocopy these and laminate • Children can keep it in their trays for reference; • can practise their handwriting if they finish their work early or for those children who need to practise fine motor skills. The pictures are not in alphabetical order so that you have to look for the picture. • Enlarge the A4 size sheet to A3 and the sheet with the alphabet tiles. • Laminate the Alphabet Pictures grid • Laminate the Alphabet sheet then cut out each letter for use with Alphabet Pictures grid. • Children can play in pairs. A timer can be set so that children have a limited time to place the letter on the correct picture. • Players take turns to ask his/her partner to find the picture beginning with, e.g. ‘s’. The player picks out one of the letters and places it over the correct picture sound on the Alphabet Picture Mat.
